Missionary Rescue

I was working on Vancouver Island in Duncah, and was transfered and had to catch the morning ferry. One of the women we wre teaching wanted me to baptize her before I left. We had to baptize in the river and the winter ice had just broken. We had the service at about 7am and it was freezing! As I was bringing her up from the water the sand we were standing on gave way and she started to float off with the ice in the river. I grabber her foot and another elder grabbed my hand and we got back to shore. Cars stopped on the bridge to see this and clapped when I got her out. The morning paper the next day said, NATIVE WOMAN SUICIDE ATTEMPT THWARTED BY YOUNG MAN IN WHITE. Anonymous Canada Vancouver
